Buffalo materials startup secures $28M Series B round

A local materials science startup has raised an eight-digit funding round to fuel growth.

CleanFiber, which manufactures building insulation from recycled corrugated cardboard, recently closed a $28 million Series B equity funding round, according to a news release. The startup also secured a $31.5 million project financing facility.

CleanFiber gains $5 million in investment as it continues growth

CleanFiber wrapped up a $5 million investment round last month that will support the completion of an expansion to its factory in Blasdell and help fund future growth. More than $70 million has now been invested in CleanFiber.

One startup has a plan to slash that fraction while also cutting the carbon footprint of people’s homes. Buffalo-based CleanFiber takes used cardboard boxes and turns them into cellulose insulation that can be blown into the walls and attics of new and existing homes.
